We're Back

The move to the new server went well, and the main site and forum are back up. Thank you for your patience.

The site wasn't working for me when this was posted yesterday, so I thought I'd give it some time, but it's still not working for me now. I get the same message as over the weekend. Thought I'd let you know!

Sorry Corinne. I'm afraid it is now a matter of where you live and who you use for internet access. Where do you live?

A process called propagation needs to take place. Basically it means our new server address needs to be made known across the web. There are several places where this is done. If you are using one that has not updated the record yet, then you will be directed to the old QT site. Unfortunately, you can't decide which record keeper you want to use. But propagation usually takes 24 to 48 hours and we're passed that now, so it should start working for you real soon. Make sure you do a page refresh after you are on the page, just to be sure.

I'm glad to see you guys are back on line. :)

I'm in the Netherlands. Still seeing the old page, but I'll keep checking. Thanks! :)

It may take a little longer for you since you're in the Netherlands. If it isn't back for you by tomorrow, please let me know.

DNS Propagation takes a while. Usually between 24 and 48 hrs.
However...
Some providers are very slack in getting their DNS records updated, and I've had cases where the DNS didn't update for a week.
That's when I switch DNS servers. (It won't stop you accessing the net.)
There are free ones out there, Google provides one of them.
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ is the address with the details.
So if your provider is slow to update, you could always use this one in the interim.
The details of how to set it up are on the page URL I posted.
Hope it helps!

Thanks Silke. I wasn't aware of Google's DNS service. Good to know.

Just to let you know, I'm in the UK and the site still isn't coming up for me.

Sorry about the difficulties Celandine. The trip to Europe seems to be taking much longer than anticipated. Please give it a few more days and if it still isn't working please let me know.

Silke's comment above is another solution, if you are comfortable with that sort of thing.

Hmmm, the site came back Friday afternoon (26th) then went back to the unavailable message on Saturday and hasn't been back since.

It's still not working for me, I'm afraid, and I'm not really comfortable switching DNS servers.

I'm waiting patiently and know there's not much you can do, but I figured you should know.

Corinne and Celandine, I'm sorry you're still having problems. I am shocked that it still isn't working for you.

Here is a temporary link that should work.

http://174.120.181.131/~qtracker

It may not give you everything, but should be most of everything. Please keep checking the real link and let me know if it ever starts working for you.

That link works perfectly for me, Patrick - thanks! I'll keep you informed about the other link.

It's working again for me. Huzzah!

Holly Cow! It took that long? That's awful.
