We were at varying levels of experience, but we all knew exactly what we were getting into and how much weight we'd have to pull. YOu can watch for submission calls and see if any of them work with your publishing goals.Jane Lebakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00851954297667846546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454222325290313520.post-39673114227908273692016-05-04T08:14:20.497-04:002016-05-04T08:14:20.497-04:00Box sets are a boon if you can get into one...but ...Box sets are a boon if you can get into one...but it's not an undertaking that should be approached lightly, especially if you have limited publishing experience. Lots of behind-the-scene business details to hammer out.

Anthologies are, in my opinion, a lot easier for the single working writer. A lot of anthologies are published by small press and there are always open calls for submission from someone. Poetry, short fiction, and novel excerpts are common requests.

I use Duotrope.com to look for open anthologies (but Duotrope is now a paid site so you need to be a subscriber).

A writer can also simply search for "Anthology" "open call" "submission guidelines" as well as genre (ie. "romance") and type ("poetry" or "flash fiction").

Finding an open box set is a lot tougher. You can search the same way, basically, but many are coordinated by the authors themselves. In those instances, it's often a case of networking beforehand and getting in.Ash Krafton | @ashkraftonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16958256604970916899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454222325290313520.post-76710398039266922922016-05-03T17:56:04.416-04:002016-05-03T17:56:04.416-04:00Wonderful article!
